The loss of a grandchild is a life altering event.
I belong to a 'group' now, but it's not a group you ever
dream of being in and it's not one that I wish anyone
to have to join.
I can only imagine that losing your child is more painful
than this. All of us in this 'group' know a two-fold pain.
We grieve the loss of our grandchild and then we grieve
watching our son or our daughter's pain because we can't
fix their broken hearts. We can't give them the one thing
that would bring the light back into their eyes - the child
they lost.
I created this page to honor the other Grandparents
that have taken me into their hearts and just allowed
me to talk about my feelings without ever saying
"aren't you over this" yet. Someone said one day
"I'll never get over it - I just hope to get through it."
She didn't know it at the time, but that one sentence
changed my life.
For now, I'm okay if I just get through it.
Just One More Day
What we would give to have you
Just One More Day
There was so much to tell you
That we Never Got to Say
Some were born to Heaven
Some were here for years
It really doesn't matter
For we shed the same amount of tears
Our hearts were forever broken
The day God took you home
We know that you are Angels
In Heavens Garden you do roam
We call you our Grand Angels
We share in special sorrows
The light went out in our child's eyes
Because for you there are no tomorrows
To my precious Grand Angel
I just want you to know
Grammy & Grandpa love & miss you
You are our Angel Cole
I know that up in Heaven
He plays with all your Grands too
He asked God to help make sure
That I would be led to find you
You've all helped to ease
My ever-aching Heart
We cleave unto each other
Even though we are Apart
And on behalf of all of you
I want the world to Know
That Grandparents grief is just as real
Please understand it's So
To all our special Grand Angels
Playing TogetherAbove
I wrote this for all of you
And I send it with much Love
What we would give to have you
Just One More Day
There was so much to tell you
That we Never Got to Say
