Spring 2006

Meet Jacob Christopher ~ aka "Jake" ~ He is our 3rd born grandson and arrived just 6 weeks after his cousin Cole was born still. Jake's Mommy & Daddy are our daughter Ali and husband Tony. Jake was born 3 weeks early but very healthy on August 29, 2000.

As I write this in early 2007, Jake is 6 years old. He is in kindergarten and loves school.

Jake loves TRAINS the most ~ Thomas the Tank Engine is his favorite but he loves to watch and play with any trains!

Jake was 'early' at everything ~ from being born to walking (8 months old). However, when he was about 18 months old, he developed a strange 'gait' with his left leg. At first the leg would not bend for him, and over time it got bad enough that he couldn't stand up after being seated without assistance. Between Feb 2002 and current day, Jake has had many mobility problems including a strange gait to his walk, tiring very quickly, complaining of his feet 'being tired' and many more along those lines.

After 3 years, visits with every type of specialist you can name (none of whom diagnosed him correctly) Jake was diagnosed in March 2005 with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRS) after being seen by a pediatric rheumatologist in San Diego CA. Please keep Jake in your prayers as he has to take a very powerful medication to help improve his symptoms. A full body x-ray in April 2005 showed that Jake has JRA in both feet, both ankles, both knees, both elbows, both wrists (left is much worst and wrist cannot bend), both hands and all his fingers and finally (sigh) in his left shoulder. Our family would appreciate any and all prayers that might be said for our sweet Jake.

Jake & Grammy are very bonded. I was able to be a primary caretaker for him during the first few years while Ali went to the University of Arizona and Tony worked. He lived only one block away. Now they have moved across town and I really miss him not being closer but he still gets his 'Grammy' time to come for overnight visits..

Jake is very excited that he became a big brother on May 24, 2005 when his sister, Madelyn Hope arrived. Jake loves Sunday school, Jesus and TALKING all the time. LOL

And we all love Jake more than words can say. He's our precious gift.

Come along and see some of Grammys favorite pictures of Jake.
