These are just a few of the photos I've taken over the last several years around my hometown of Tucson. Tucson is known for it's abundant sunshine, blue skies, gorgeous mountains that surround the city which lies in a high valley at approximately 2500 ft above sea level. We also have spectacular summer thunderstorms, mostly during what is considered our 'monsoon' season from early July to mid-Sept.

We also have some of the most beautiful sunsets and that is something that I really enjoy capturing with my camera.

The population in Tucson per the 2000 census was 486,699 people. Tucson is the county seat of Pima County . Pima County is located in southern Arizona and covers an area of approximately 9,200 square miles. Approximately 70 percent of Pima County consists of Federal, State, and Native American owned lands, including Organ Pipe National Monument, Saguaro National Park, Coronado National Forest, Santa Rita Wildlife Area, and the Tohono O’odham and Pascua Yaqui Indian Reservations. The July 1, 2003 population estimate for Pima County is 910,950 of which 325,425 live within the unincorporated areas.

The weather in Tucson is superb!! It is warm and sunny during most of the year and the air is very dry, with a low relative humidity. Though daytime summer temperatures are high, the temperature drops when the sun goes down. You have cool and comfortable evenings. Our average yearly rainfall is 10-12".

Tucson is also known for it's 'snow birds' ~ those lucky people who are able to winter in Tucson and escape the snow in their home towns. Our population swells in the winter months with them and they contribute greatly to our economy ~ which is based in large part on tourism.
